Hill country an hour from Jakarta, which is the entire argument: cool nights, mountains on three sides, and a modern private hospital, a mall and an IKEA inside the same township. The foreign community is small but real, mostly around the international schools. The catch is rain — Bogor is called the Rain City and earns it.

Healthcare
Good private care, with Jakarta an hour away
EMC Sentul is a Class B private hospital inside Sentul City itself, open since 2013, with a cath lab, ICU, radiology, haemodialysis and a stroke unit. It inaugurated a five-floor expansion building in November 2025 and runs a dedicated programme for older patients. For a town this size that is a genuinely good facility, and it is the single strongest practical argument for Sentul over other hill towns.
For anything beyond its scope, the Jakarta hospitals are roughly an hour away — which is the whole point of being here rather than further out.
Climate
Hills, cool nights and a great deal of rain
Bogor sits at around 265 metres and Sentul higher again, roughly 500 metres, which is where the cool nights come from. The trade-off is rainfall: Bogor is known as the Rain City and thoroughly earns the name. Expect afternoon storms for much of the year.
Getting there
There is no local airport. Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta is around an hour and a half to two hours away depending on traffic, which is the price of the hill air. In exchange you get Indonesia’s best-connected airport within reach for a day trip.
